About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer will support forging operations by ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of critical production equipment. This is a hands-on, plant-facing role embedded directly in operations, working closely with maintenance, tooling, metallurgical, and leadership teams.
The ideal candidate understands heavy mechanical systems, respects the realities of forging environments, and can translate sound engineering principles into practical solutions on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Support mechanical systems across forging presses, hammers, furnaces, manipulators, and material handling equipment
Improve reliability and availability of assets operating under extreme loads and temperatures
Lead root cause analysis for mechanical failures impacting safety, quality, or production
Support capital projects including press upgrades, furnace installations, and equipment rebuilds
Develop mechanical standards, specifications, and preventative maintenance strategies
Partner with maintenance and operations teams to improve uptime, safety, and asset life
Review drawings, calculations, and vendor designs for technical accuracy and durability
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost control
Key Performance Indicators
Equipment uptime and reliability metrics
Reduction in unplanned downtime and mechanical failures
Safety performance related to mechanical systems
Effectiveness of preventative and corrective maintenance programs
Successful execution of capital projects and equipment upgrades
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in forging, heavy manufacturing, or high-force industrial environments
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
Ability to work effectively in hot, industrial, plant-floor settings
Practical problem-solving mindset grounded in engineering fundamentals
Strong communication skills across maintenance, operations, and leadership teams
Preferred:
Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
Exposure to advanced materials or high-performance alloys
Familiarity with reliability engineering or asset management principles
Experience supporting large presses, hammers, or thermal processing equipment
